Writing Secondary

This is a detailed and comprehensive course consisting of 23 lessons. Register, both formal and informal, is examined in a variety of forms and its impact on the audience is assessed. Logically developed structures in writing are explored and how punctuation and vocabulary can reveal the writer’s voice and perspective. The course also examines summary skills and how condensed and succinct writing can have more impact. Developing summarising skills can assist in all subjects across the curriculum so emphasise is placed on different summarising techniques. The lessons are followed by an assessment and students can evaluate their own progress.
